Also her reign saw the establishment of a proper system of officially registering births, marriages and deaths in the UK, an invaluable resource for an amateur genealogist.

May 17th 1814 Norway’s constitution is signed, providing for a monarchy. This is of interest to me for two reasons. My husband is of Norwegian descent and as an amateur genealogist I’ve done quite a bit of research into Scandinavian records. Secondly, I LOVE Vikings!
